CEO's Note

Welcome to November – yes, you read that right – November; the year has simply disappeared.

We are coming up to the end of our racing season right now with this weekend’s final round of the Queensland Drag Racing Championships. This final round is run to an elimination format so has a different feeling from the round robin events run through the year. There are titles on the line this Saturday with some very close margins across a number of brackets – it’s well worth checking out. If you would like to enter, 5:00 PM Wednesday is when entries close. We look forward to seeing you here on Saturday.

Last weekend we ran the re-scheduled Mopar Sunday and had a grand time, it’s a fun event and has a long history here – keep an eye out for it in next year’s calendar. Speaking of which, we should have our 2016 calendar good to come out to you shortly – there have been a number of holdups on it this year, most of which have now been resolved, so it is close!

We’re scheduling our annual racer meetings with racers currently, so we will be coming out to you with dates and a location for those soon – these meetings are great for us and great for racers. It’s an opportunity to discuss a range of issues in an open forum and the meetings we’ve held to date have all led to positive outcomes for racers and the track. Please keep an eye out for our emails on these meetings as we’d love to see you there.

You’ll also see information on our awards dinner elsewhere in this edition of Track Talk, it’s a great way to cap off the year and recognise our local champions.

Lastly, many of you will have seen that the 400 Thunder series, which we’re a part of, is going to IHRA Sanctioning. There will be a lot more information coming out to you on this in the coming weeks but I’d just like to say that there are great opportunities for racers of all levels under IHRA sanction with, amongst other things, the opportunity for sportsman racers to go and represent their country in the US. Making the change has been a big step and one that none of us have taken lightly, but I suspect that we’ll all look back in the future and see this change in a very positive light for the sport.

See you at ‘the strip’ soon!
